Grease the Musical

Join us on March 26th, departing at 3:15, for a complimentary performance of Grease the Musical at James Island Charter High School, exclusively for Bishop Gadsden residents. The students have been dedicated to this production for many months and are eager to showcase their talents at this premier event. Grease, written by Warren Casey and Jim Jacobs, is a musical centered around American high school life, featuring music in the 1950s rock ‘n roll style. It depicts Rydell High's senior class of 1959, including the duck-tailed, hot-rodding "Burger Palace Boys" and the gum-snapping, hip-shaking "Pink Ladies" in bobby socks and pedal pushers, embodying the vibrant look and sound of the era. Head greaser Danny Zuko and the new girl, Sandy Dumbrowski, try to rekindle the romance of their "Summer Nights," but returning to school reveals a new reality. Sandy struggles to navigate the challenging social dynamics of Rydell High and regain Danny’s attention, while he focuses on preserving his tough-guy status. Ultimately, the Pink Ladies assist Sandy in winning back the leader of the Burger Palace Boys, as the ensemble performs lively numbers such as "Greased Lightnin'," "It's Raining on Prom Night,' and "Alone at the Drive-In Movie," recalling the musical influences of Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley—soundtrack to a generation.

Just G.O. (Guys Out)

Don't miss out! Join Nathan and the guys for an exciting lunch at Joyland on Tuesday, April 8. We'll be leaving from the front commons at 11:30 AM. It's a great opportunity to relax, enjoy delicious food, and catch up with friends! Joyland is an imaginative concept from James Beard Award-winning Chef Sean Brock inspired by the original fast-food restaurants of yesteryear. It was created out of Brock’s innate curiosity and extensive research and development, combining quick service and indulgence with the innovation and exploration he has experienced in some of the world’s best restaurants. What appears as a simple menu of biscuits, burgers, fried chicken, and more has been furiously studied, tested, and perfected over countless trials, utilizing pioneering food technologies and the highest quality ingredients to create a delightfully fun experience that harks back to the heyday of fast food. The Joyland menu includes twist on classic favorites, such as the famous Crustburger; Joysticks, a cross between Japanese kushikatsu and Mississippi’s tradition of fried chicken-on-a-stick; buttermilk biscuits, which are also available gluten-free, a variety of handmade-to-order shakes, and a revolving hand pie that changes seasonally.
