Two Communities - One Mission

Bishop Gadsden Episcopal Retirement Community is expanding its mission and market reach through an affiliation creating Seafields at Kiawah Island by Bishop Gadsden.
Building on its long connection to the Sea Islands and a 174-year history of excellence in senior living, Bishop Gadsden established a relationship with Seafields three years ago to complete their continuum of care as the provider for post-acute healthcare for Seafields’ future residents.
With an anticipated opening in late 2025, Seafields at Kiawah will be a 62+ life plan community featuring 89 independent and 16 assisted living residences. Amenities of Seafields includes a stunning outdoor, heated pool overlooking an expansive Freshfields lake highlighting lowcountry wildlife and the area’s natural beauty; various culinary opportunities that pay homage to the best of fresh local ingredients; an onsite luxurious spa, a yoga and fitness center and various amenity spaces; physician services and on-site clinic, and easy access to the much-anticipated MUSC Health Kiawah Partners Pavilion, all within walking distance of the 30 shops, restaurants, spa services and boutique hotel accommodations that make Freshfields an outstanding destination for island residents and visitors alike.

Bishop Gadsden identified various strategic expansion scenarios that align with our mission. Over the past several years, we deepened collaborative relationship with the Seafields board and have been inspired by their dedication of bringing unparalleled senior living to the sea islands, an area that has long been part of our community’s success. Bishop Gadsden looks forward to successfully opening and operating Seafields by Bishop Gadsden.
