Resident and Family Communication 1: Tropical Storm Erika
Bishop Gadsden Initiate Plans for Tropical Storm Erika, As of August 27, 2015
As of the afternoon of Thursday, August 27, preliminary plans have begun for how Bishop Gadsden will prepare for what is currently now, Tropical Strom Erika.
Bishop Gadsden participated in a conference call today with the State of South Carolina Emergency Management Department (EMD). As a licensed care facility, Bishop Gadsden is obligated to follow EMD orders for evacuations and sheltering in place in case of an emergency.
Per that call, initial emergency preparation has begun for the coastline of South Carolina. While Bishop Gadsden will request to shelter in place should the storm be a less powerful one, we must be prepared to evacuate if we are asked to do so. Therefore, at this time, please be aware of the following:
– All residents and families are encouraged to review your personal/family emergency plans. We want you to be safe and prepared should the storm come towards our coastline. Please let Bishop Gadsden know if your evacuation plans or contact information has changed.
– Residents and families are asked to put the Hurricane Hotline number into your cell phones or an accessible place – 1-855-STORMBG.
While Erika is far away at this point, we have to be as prepared as possible for dealing with this storm. We ask for your patience and flexibility in moving forward and certainly pray that Erika heads towards the East and far into the Atlantic.
Bishop Gadsden will have another conference call with EMD tomorrow, Friday, August 28 at 2:00 PM, whereupon another update will be released.
