(Charleston, SC, November 9, 2017) Bishop Gadsden, a leading, non-profit, life plan community in Charleston, South Carolina, has received many inquiries as to why Bishop Gadsden was not included in Saturday’s story in the Post and Courier on the best nursing homes in South Carolina. The answer is very simple – this “grading” was ONLY completed on communities that receive reimbursement for services from Medicare. Bishop Gadsden has historically provided only private-pay services; however, the Community is in the process of obtaining Medicare certification in anticipation of a new, innovative, and sophisticated health care facility to serve more seniors in the Charleston area. When Bishop Gadsden begins participating in the Medicare program, the Community will be included in the U.S. News and World Report survey.
Bishop Gadsden has repeatedly earned distinctions as the “Best in Charleston” among nursing homes and has long been known regionally and nationally as a premier provider of senior living and long-term health care. It is important that our residents, families, and employees are aware of the details surrounding this ranking system from U.S. News and World Report. Additionally, we hope that those interested in a nursing home or senior living community, either for themselves or a family member, will use the ranking information, as well as personal visits, to ensure they see first-hand the surroundings and quality of care one could expect to experience within that community.
