Tales of History with Vanessa Cole Topic: "Old Dorchester" In 1695, a group of Congregationalists from Massachusetts settled on the Ashley River 20 miles from Charleston. The village of Dorchester was important in the local economy selling a variety of manufactured goods and crops. Abandoned after the Revolutionary War, little remains at the site today, but the stories are still there waiting to be told.
