Join us on Saturday, May 31 departing at 2:45 for a performance by Alisa Weilerstein. Please remember to purchase your tickets and register for a seat on the bus.
For the first time, renowned cellist Alisa Weilerstein presents the culmination of a multi-year project in six extraordinary solo recitals that highlight newly commissioned works from today’s great composers paired with Bach’s indelible cello suites. This Spoleto Chamber Music series alumna envisions the project as a “celebration of the really disparate voices in contemporary classical music.” By seamlessly weaving together Bach’s timeless compositions with innovative new works, Weilerstein, at the height of her artistic finesse, constructs a captivating narrative.
Each performance is a standalone experience, performed without intermission and without a traditional program. Enhanced by evocative lighting and scenic design, this immersive approach invites audiences to connect with the music on a profound level. Spoleto is honored to be the first to showcase the complete Fragments project, including the world premieres of the final two recitals. Don’t miss this opportunity to witness the culmination of an unique and deeply personal artistic journey
