We are very pleased to report that Bishop Gadsden fared well with yesterday’s bout with Hurricane Irma.

The stories of pitching-in, and keeping all residents and staff safe and fed are too numerous to tell, but we are so proud of our staff response and we thank you for your patience during the last few days.

We are also grateful to you for your patience and understanding, and good humor.  They will continue to be needed as we work in the coming days to return our Community to full pre-storm operations.  Here is an overview that will assist you –

Culinary:

  • Healthcare dining has returned to normal operations.
  • Tuesday, September 12:
    • Dinner will be served from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
      • All many café stations that are operational will be opened.
    • Polly’s Pub will be open from 5:00 PM– 6:30 PM
  • Wednesday, September 13 – Market Place Café/Polly’s Pub return to normal operations.

Environmental Services:

  • Storm clean-up will be the priority.
  • Your assigned hurricane teams will be in touch with you. Please do not contact EVS about returning furnishings and plants to your patios/porches; that will be taken care of today and tomorrow.
  • EVS has developed a plan to assess all storm related damage, including individual residences.
    • Your residence will be personally visited for assessment, and if needed, a priority claim number will be developed to ensure the work is completed based on a priority of need.
    • Please do not call about storm damage or any additional needs, as it will only delay progress/
  • Storm related repairs to one’s personal residences will not begin until next week, except for emergencies.
  • Housekeeping services will resume to regular schedules Wednesday, September 13.

We are so appreciative of the cooperation and positive responses we have received from all our residents and staff.  These last few days have once again shown the true spirit of our Community.  We are thankful that our Community was spared, but please know we have staff members who were personally affected and we are working on plans to assist them.September 12 – Post Irma Apartment Cottage Residents

We believe this will be the last update in reference to Irma, and for that we are prayerfully thankful.
