Description
The purpose of this position is to prepare hot food in preparations, accompaniments, and garnishes, as directed by the executive chef or the manager in charge. All cooks are to assure that food is prepared in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards and regulations as well as the quality of preparation and service guidelines as set forth by the Bishop Gadsden Community
Required Skills
At least eighteen (18) years of age Completed high school education or equivalent Ability to read, write, speak, understand, comprehend, and communicate Ability to complete simple math requirments
Previous Experience
Should have two to three years of experience as a Line Cook. Degree in Culinary Arts a plus!
Duties
Regularly handle and prepare food in a safe and sanitary manner. General knowledge of food preparation and handling techniques and demonstrates understanding in daily work. Prepare and creatively assembles hot entrees, soups, and vegetables. Follows preparation sheet and recipes provided by dining service supervision. Assures items of special request are provided. Completes the tasks of advance preparations as needed. Work independently with proper direction. Assures and records food temperature check at each meal and preparation. Completes preparation records. Stores food items properly at close of meal service. Cleans work area and equipment used in food preparation. Performs all duties assigned in an effective, timely, and professional manner. Follows fire safety and general safety guidelines.
